Salmon Fishing
Both banks of the river are owned by the estate and include 12 individual beats (six house rods, one family rod and five rods on the south bank). Fishing is available for as little as one rod for one day to weekly lets for parties of up to six fishers. For the ultimate break fishers can take advantage of the superb accommodation available at the house. Preference is given, if possible, to parties staying in the house. The River Dee is less than a five minutes walk from the house and all the pools are accessible by car and, depending on height, a considerable quantity of bank fishing is available. Wading is generally easy and certain pools are suitable for older guests and beginners with easy bank fishing and casting. Park is renowned for the quality of its fishing. The overall catch in 2007 was 643 salmon and 183 sea trout. There are six fishing huts on the water with four on the house side and a further two on the Durris side. The main hut is a short walk from the house and looks out on the famous Cellar pool and the Durris Stream. The conservation code for the 2007 season, as set by the Dee District Fishery Board and the Dee Salmon Fishing Improvement Association, is that all salmon should be returned and every second sea trout may be kept, if desired, subject to a maximum weight of three pounds. The conservation code recommends that all injured or damaged fish become the property of the Estate. The estate provides one ghillie for each side of the river and additional ghillies are also available, at an extra charge. All the ghillies can provide expert tuition in all aspects of fishing, fly casting, etc. Fishing prices for 2006 per rod per day inclusive of VAT
